Marketing Materials – The Magic Paintbrush

Selection of marketing materials for The Magic Paintbrush (1995), showing different versions of flyers and leaflets from various productions and tours. Written by David K.S. Tse, directed by Vicky Ireland, and produced by Polka Theatre.

Ma Leung is a homeless orphan who loves to draw but is too poor to own a paintbrush. One night the ghost of the old Emperor Baa Gu visits him and gives him a fabulous present – a paintbrush with the magical power to bring everything it paints to life!

Using the colour, costumes, music and acrobatics of traditional Chinese Theatre, The Magic Paintbrush has been a huge success ever since it was first produced at Polka Theatre in 1994. It was nominated as Best Children’s Production in the London Fringe Awards and the Barclays TMA Awards (1997) after a national tour throughout Britain,  and international tours as far afield as Finland and Singapore.
