Workshop Photographs – Tsunagu/Conect

Photographed by Ikin Yum
“What price must we pay to create a third space, neither one nation nor the other, where we finally have room to be ourselves?”

Workshop Photographs  of Tsunagu/Connect, photographed by Ikin Yum.

Tsunagu/Connect was a project by New Earth Theatre documenting the lives of women who were born in Japan and later settled in the UK from 1945 onwards. Nearly 30 Japanese women shared their stories as part of the project. These conversations informed the creation of a live performance and an exhibition.

Tsunagu/Connect was made possible by funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England, with additional support from The Japan Society, Museum of London, artsdepot, London Metropolitan Archives, Goldsmiths, University of London, The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation, and Shoreditch Town Hall.
